10R140 deep pan is here! And this is why you need it!

FORD 10R140 Owners this is what you have been waiting for!

AFE has released a cast aluminum pan that will not only help cool the fluid but hold an additional 4 quarts. With the long intended service of Motorcraft ULV Trans fluid, holding some extra may actually let us get closer to those optimistic service intereval. We recommend that the 10R transmissions, both light and heavy duty versions get a fluid and filter change at 40000 - 50000 miles. The Owners manual for some vehicles states 150000 miles and that is very optimistic. Even with this pan, I wouldn’t stretch past 75k with heavy towing.

Your transmission has alot asked of it. All those brakes and clutches and all that starting and stopping of rotating parts. So much heat generated and the fluid has little cooling and worst yet small amounts of friction material and powdered metal from steels accumulates. More fluid volume helps here, as the amount can suspend more solids before the concentration per unit volume exceeds what is OK to use.

As for the material, not only is the cast aluminum tougher but similar pans on other transmissions have helped with a 5 to 10 degree temperature drop under heavy use. NOTE, this will not help light use, as the cooler set point will be the determining factor here. SPE has a lower temp thermostat that we are testing to see how this impacts mileage, trans temps and other variables.

Stay tuned!
