Bypass filtration for 2017+ 6.7 Powerstroke

We sell Amsoil and darn are we proud of it! The oil and filters are great. Only complaint is, from us and feedback from customers is the bypass filter kits are not as easy to install as they could be…

For the 2011-2019 folks tend to like the dual kit (BMK 28), that relocates primary (full flow) and secondary (side stream or bypass flow). These work great for those years, but here are a few considerations:

One, if you run the dual kit, every filter change you have a little bit of a longer dry start vs a filled filter screwed onto the normal location.

Two, if you run a 2020+ Powerstroke, this is not a good idea. The 2020+ trucks have a VDOP or Variable Displacement Oil Pump. This relocating of the primary filter is not advised.

We have a solution, as you can see we are working on a powder coated bracket to easily mount the bypass filter BMK 33 kit and provide it with protection from rocks that may be kicked up from the right passenger wheel.

Now you can have the best of both worlds, extended drain intervals, less soot in oil and of course a easy to install kit that is not easily harmed by flying rocks.

Our recommendation for even Synthetic oil in these trucks is a 5000 - 6000 mile drain interval. With the bypass a oil sample at 5000 miles is recommended and based on oil analysis that can come out to 7500-10000 mile drain intervals, all the while having less soot in the oil.

Stay tuned!
